Soil Detachment Rate of a Rainfall-Induced Landslide Soil

چکیده
In recent decades, the number of rainfall-induced landslides has increased significantly in many parts Malaysia, especially urbanized and hilly areas. The disturbance morphology as a result human activities potential for erosion on man-made slopes, during extreme rainfall rain events. Most areas Malaysia are covered by thick layer soil, which is known to have significant impact soil erosion. However, little about how could be driving force behind landslide initiation, stabilized slopes. Therefore, this study focuses detachment rate triggered at different intensities. A sandbox model used represent real slope conditions. relationship between capacity, properties (water content, slope, clay layers compaction), hydraulic parameters (flow shear stress stream power) intensities (low, medium high) was investigated. results showed that intensity directly proportional soil. Water content show higher lower critical flow than other properties. It can concluded high saturation steep increase risk because cohesion friction reduced, leading weakening structure surface. feed into existing analysis stability formulate onset rainfall, eroded soils.

Analysis of Rainfall-Induced Landslide on Unsaturated Soil Slopes
This paper investigates rainfall-induced landslides on partially saturated soil slopes using the 2011 Umyeonsan landslides at the center of Seoul, Korea. An integrated analysis of rainfall-induced landslide was carried out through laboratory tests, field tests, and numerical analysis. The results of comprehensive investigations in the Umyeonsan region demonstrate that landslide activity is clos...
متن کاملStudy On Flow Erosivity Indicators for Predicting Soil Detachment Rate at Low Slopes
Soil detachment is known as an important process in soil erosion and its quantification is necessary to establish a basic understanding of erosion. This study was carried out to find the best flow erosivity indicator(s) for predicting detachment rate at low slopes. For this purpose, 12 experiments including 6 flow discharges (75, 100, 125, 150, 175 and 200 ml/s) and 2 slope gradients (1.5 and 2...
متن کاملRainfall-induced landslide susceptibility zonation of Puerto Rico
Landslides are a major geologic hazard with estimated tens of deaths and $1–2 billion in economic losses per year in the US alone. The island of Puerto Rico experiences one or two large events per year, often triggered in steeply sloped areas by prolonged and heavy rainfall. Identifying areas susceptible to landslides thus has great potential value for Puerto Rico and would allow better managem...
متن کاملPrediction of rainfall induced landslide movements by artificial neural networks
Many slow to moderate landslides are monitored in order to react on time and prevent loss of lives and reduce material damage. In most of such cases there are very limited data on the geometry, hydrogeological and material properties of the landslide. The aim of the paper is to test the ability of artificial neural networks (ANN) to make reliable short term predictions of rainfall induced lands...
متن کاملAcute sensitivity of landslide rates to initial soil porosity.
Some landslides move imperceptibly downslope, whereas others accelerate catastrophically. Experimental landslides triggered by rising pore water pressure moved at sharply contrasting rates due to small differences in initial porosity. Wet sandy soil with porosity of about 0.5 contracted during slope failure, partially liquefied, and accelerated within 1 second to speeds over 1 meter per second....
